Zoom Bakayogo has been given a chance to hold down a starting place for the first time in 18 months – and the Frenchman is desperate to take it.

Bakayogo signed under former boss Nigel Spackman, but has never made the left back position his own – coming behind Tony Craig and more recently Andy Frampton in the pecking order.

But following the current injury crisis, the 20 year-old has started at both Altrincahm and Bristol Rovers.

‘I talked to my dad every day and he said if I stick at it, my luck would change,’ he said.

‘It has been a hard time for me but I am working every day to prove I am good enough. In my head I believe I am.

‘When I was not in the first team, I gave my best in the reserves, so I could be sure I was fit if the chance came.’
