Chris Wood has been recalled by West Bromwich Albion, and will unfortunately be joining Leicester in the January window.

Speaking to the official site Kenny Jackett said of Wood.

‘I’d like to thank Chris for all his efforts during his time with us.’

Shame to see him go especially given the impact he had with us, and Albion have confirmed they accepted an offer from us for him as well, but sadly he’s chosen Leicester who are only a point ahead of us in the race for promotion.

Pete Garston in his Fan On The Board piece for the official site, confirmed that Millwall matched Leicester at every available turn for the player.

‘The Chris Wood situation is on everyone`s minds, including other clubs. All I can say is I know the salary, transfer fee and all the add ons that were offered to both WBA and and the player. I can assure everyone we matched Leicester in every financial aspect, be assured the board went to extreme lengths to get him at the club permanently. As with all transfers the final decision is with the player as to whether he sees his future at a club. I understand Chris Wood and his agent (his dad) feels there is more chance of getting Premiership football with Leicester. Personally I find this very annoying as it was only two weeks ago that Chris had thoughts of staying with us, especially as he was getting first team football week-in week-out and was very well liked by us, the fans.’

With speculation mounting about players leaving, Pete also confirmed that Millwall have not had any offers for any of our players at this time.
