Millwall have signed former Middlesbrough midfielder Nicky Bailey on a two year deal.

The 29 year old joined them from Charlton three years ago but was released when his contract expired this summer.

Speaking to the official site Bailey said of the deal, which becomes official on Monday.

‘I believe that with the new players coming in added to those who did well in the early part of last season, we can be a force in the Championship. I’m looking forward to a new start at Millwall, and ideally scoring more goals from midfield than I had the opportunity to do at Boro.’

He joins too late to play a part at Gillingham, but it’s expected he’ll play some part in Paul Robinson’s testimonial.
