Goalkeeper Jordan Archer has praised his ‘solid and outstanding’ teammates ahead of Millwall’s clash with Sunderland this weekend.

Having moved into 12th place in the Championship table with victory over Burton Albion in our previous game, Millwall have now taken 13 points from the last five matches and Archer has now kept his 12th clean sheet of the season.

Rather than taking praise for his own contribution so far this year, Archer was quick to praise his colleagues in front of him and he told the official site that everyone continued to look up the table to ensure we finish as strongly as we can as we consolidate our position back in the second tier.

‘It’s a credit to the whole team. The back four have been solid and outstanding but even the attacking players defend from the front. It really is a team effort and I can’t take credit for the clean sheets. At the start of the season I read that we were one of the favourites to go down. It’s a testament to the boys and the staff how well we have done and I think there’s only a couple of games where we have been outplayed.’

With Sunderland finding themselves stuck in 24th place in the table, Archer was under no impressions when it came to how tough the game would be as he knew the side would have to remain focused to extend our winning streak as the Black Cats will be out for pride, if not survival as the points remain there for them if they can start picking them up.

‘Every game in this division is a big one. You look at some of the ex-Premier League clubs and there are some big, big names. I’m sure the fans will come out in their numbers and when The Den is rocking there are not many teams that can come and take points off us. We are playing well but we won’t get too carried away because there’s still plenty of games to go before the end of the season.’
